Dr. Niemann was raised in nearby La Cañada Flintridge, where he excelled in academics and athletics. His interest in the human body, and the care of it, led him to study at the University of California, Davis. There he received his BS in psychology, with emphasis on cognitive neuroscience and psychobiology. To bolster his understanding of dentistry, he took on assistant positions at local dental offices. With his calling to dentistry confirmed, he attended the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.

While at Loma Linda, Dr. Niemann took to heart the institution’s motto “To Make Man Whole,” participating in regular outreach programs and mobile clinics, helping to serve underserved regions of San Bernardino County and beyond. He was also exposed to the special impact that oral & maxillofacial surgery (OMS) can have on patients, through his constant shadowing of the renowned faculty at LLU.

Upon completion of dental school with honors, he pursued surgical training in the six-year OMS program at LAC+USC Medical Center. LAC+USC is a world-class teaching hospital, a Level-One trauma center, and the major hub in the county-run healthcare system, serving more than 10 million residents. Dr. Niemann’s surgical training is vast, as he rotated at some of the most important medical and dental institutions in southern California, including Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Keck Hospital of USC, Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, and Long Beach Miller Children’s Dental Clinic.  During his six years, in addition to his OMS training, he obtained his medical degree (MD), general surgery certificate, and extensive training in adult and pediatric anesthesia.  He is licensed to practice both dentistry and medicine and to provide general anesthesia by the State of California.

Dr. Niemann is proud of his training and looks forward to sharing his skills to serve South Pasadena and the surrounding communities. Flintridge & Huntington Oral Surgery & Implant Centers has state-of-the-art equipment, including a 3-D cone beam CT, digital x-rays, and intraoral scanning capabilities, all allowing for computer-assisted surgical planning when necessary.  Dr. Niemann and his warm, welcoming staff will ensure your comfort prior to, during, and after your treatment in their newly renovated facility.

Dr. Niemann and his wife Sarah have three beautiful children, twins Savannah and Logan, and a younger daughter Madison. When not on some family adventure, he can be found rooting for his beloved Trojans, Angels baseball, Lakers basketball, and Kings hockey. Other hobbies include reading, coaching his kids’ teams, trying to cook, and even the occasional workout, dog walks, or swimming.
